FLASH OF GENIUS

Genre: Biography Drama
Direction: Marc Abraham
Lead: Greg Kinnear

Greg Kinnear has done a splendid job yet again. Here he plays a professor who invents an idea related to windshield wiper of the cars only to find out that Ford Motors stole the idea. He has a nervous breakdown but after years of struggle, he finally copes up with it and pulls himself together to fight for what was his. This movie is  not just his battle of hope to establish justice. It's a true story that depicts the emotional phases of a person who got betrayed and ripped of his invention. Its touching and filled with lots of intelligent ideas.

I would say, go for it., for Bob Kearns truly is a very inspiring real life hero and he deserves his story to be spread among the makers of tomorrow.

PROM NIGHT

Genre: Horror Mystery Thriller
Direction: Nelson McCormick
Lead: Brittany Snow

Total bullshit!

Bullshit acting. Bullshit direction. Bullshit plot.

Prom night was supposed to be the best night of her life, but instead she goy chased by a sadistic, stalking ex-boyfriend. That's it. That's the entire movie. Predictable plot, predictable storyline, predictable ending. And because of bad direction and acting, even the thrills are dull. Nothing's new in the movie and if it had given me atleast a few chills, I'd have considered giving it a bit more stars.

WANTED (HOLLYWOOD)

Genre: Action Mystery Thriller
Direction: Timur Bekmambetov
Leads: Angelina Jolie, James McAvoy

A great action-packed adventure with a tinge of super-ability. Not one part of the movie seems an unwanted stretch. James McAvoy has done splendid acting and Angelina certainly showed that women can do incredible stunts without a blink. The movie has got good comedy and drama elements too.

The only down side of the movie is that it has a few loopholes. The Fraternity of Assassins, as they call it, has the ability to fasten their heartbeat rate to extreme levels so as to quicken your responses, thus figuratively, slowing down the time in a sense for you to focus. I can buy that. I will even buy the explanation they gave for the bending of the translation of bullets after they are fired. But that explanation just doesn't fit with the start and the end of the movie where the shot is fired from a gun miles away and the bullet finds its way through the crowd and the buildings. That's a bit too much. And the ending of the movie where McAvoy finally seeks his revenge is just ridicule. Apart from the few loopholes and the ending action sequence, the movie is very entertaining, especially for the action fans.

The part towards the end where the movie flips the story upside down is one of the best brain-twirls in the industry. So, if you want to have a blast of action sequences, I'd say don't wait.

THE DARK KNIGHT

Genre: Action Drama Thriller
Direction: Christopher Nolan
Leads: Christian Bale, Heath Ledger, Aaron Eckhart

Until Dark Knight, I never knew a superhero movie can be so mindblowing! Nolan really knows how to blow up the back of the hall and he never fails to impress me. He restarted the Batman series in 2005 with Batman Begins, which was well-directed too, but didn't pick up into the crowd that much. So he knew he had to do something to take it up a notch in making an action thriller, rather than a superhero movie. That is why he removed the name 'Batman' from the title altoghether. He really pays attention to minute details and that is what makes him the top director of all time.

There is not a moment in the entire movie that makes your brain rest. Every second, something is happening. It keeps your brain alert all the time and one of the rare movies that literally induces the thrill into the audience. And the main reason for that is -you guessed it right- The Joker!

Heath Ledger broke all records of acting as he took his role of psychotic villain, the Joker. I haven't seen such brilliant acting since a long time and I don't expect I'll see it again for a long time too. Every time it's Ledger's scene, the hair on my hand would stand up. He really placed us on the edge!

With Nolan's direction, Ledger's acting, beautiful and meaningful touch at the end when Batman has to make a decision to continue following his principles, and the amazing cinematography and sounds, this must-watch movie deserves no less ratings than I'm giving it.

I just cannot wait for the sequel!

HANCOCK

Genre: Action Sci-Fi
Direction: Peter Berg
Lead: Will Smith

It starts off real great. The idea was really great -a Superhero who actually has no interest in saving people. It was a cool concept, a new take on the entire Superhero concept but the story doesn't pick up that much. A few good turns but the movie as a whole just goes on an average pace. A little predictable storyline once we get the grip on the story. Even the ending of the movie wasn't upto the mark. Frankly speaking, I expected more from Will Smith after his great performance in I Am Legend.

It's not bad all the way, just a mildly entertaining movie. So if you got a lot of free time and want something to just sit back and enjoy without using any brains, this is it.

HAROLD & KUMAR ESCAPE FROM GUANTANAMO BAY

Genre: Adventure Comedy
Direction: Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg
Leads: John Cho, Kal Penn

It's a sequel; the second part of the Harold & Kumar series. And whenever it's a sequel, we can't help but compare it to the earlier version. And comparing this movie to the first part, it was a bit low on the punches. The dynamic duo has done a good job but still there was a bit lack of pace in between. Also, I had more expectations from Neil Pattrick Harris, as he has already established the level as Barney Stinson in How I Met Your Mother. So, the hype was already built, but Neil wasn't given the chance or he couldn't make it upto the mark.

The ending of the movie was like a scene of a spoof. It was a skit offended directly at the President. It was good but even that could have been with many more punches. Don't mistake this review to conclude that the movie is bad! It just didn't make it upto the first part. But the movie is good and quite entertaining in the world of comedy. Definitely above average. You can sit back and enjoy the laughter ride and you won't be disappointed. But I'm just going to cut half a star because I felt it a bit stretched at few instances and the comedy to be bit drifted towards little childish type.

COLLEGE ROAD TRIP

Genre: Adventure Comedy Drama
Direction: Roger Kumble
Leads: Raven-Symone, Martin Lawrence

With a movie like Taken released just a months before this one, which has similar plot except Taken is a high class drama thriller, and this is a dumb-comedy trip that turns into a bullshit teen adventure movie. The over-protective father tags himself along to take his daughter to travel around the country. The acting could not have been any terrible and the lead girl Rave is so ugly that I would almost vomit every time she smiled. It has a few good jokes but the bad acting takes over the jokes and turns the whole thing into crap. It's disgusting and total stupid.

If you like this movie, then you're just a stupid retarded idiot with a negative IQ.

TAKEN

Genre: Action Drama
Direction: Pierre Morel
Lead: Liam Neeson

The movie is simply mind-blowing with its very realistic depiction of action sequences, which is almost non-existent in action movies. So considerable amount of credit goes to the director. The movie rotates around a father who cares for his daughter more than his life and will do anything to keep her safe. And when she gets kidnapped, he flips the whole world upside down in order to pursue the criminals and to get her back. The movie is concentrated on the father all along, his feelings, his emotions, the struggle he has to go through to get his daughter back, and everything he does in the mission is simply brilliant! The tricks he pulls to escape from troubling situations will keep you amazing. It is a very intelligent movie and very natural writing; nothing in the movie seems to be exaggerated.

And Liam Neeson has yet again proven to be one of the best in the industry. The weight of his voice can never go unfelt! When he warns the kidnapper on phone telling him to let her go and that he a very special set of skills to pursue criminals like him, and that if he doesn't let her go, "I will find you... And I will kill you," the audience just drops their jaw with the heartbeats stopped. His voice is really chilling! Neeson takes you on a great ride with this rescue mission. It's an awesome movie, watch it!
