DARK SHADOWS

Genre: Fantasy Comedy
Direction: Tim Burton
Lead: Johny Depp

Johny Depp will never be not entertaining, no matter what he does. The movie, on the other hand, is not that much. It's supposed to be a spoof of a 1970's TV show, but it fails to deliver the laughter punches. All the funny moments are already in the trailer. Except from that, the movie merely offers more fantasy element, which has turned mundane by now given that every other film that comes out in a while is a vampire flick.

There is a storyline but it's not gripping. The cast has done a good job, but the writing wasn't good enough to entertain the audience. Just an alright movie.

ISHAQZAADE

Genre: Action Drama Romance
Direction: Habib Faisal
Lead: Arjun Kapoor, Parineeti Chopra

A passionate romance developing between two people who hate each other extremely. Both the characters are designed superbly and the leads have enacted them in a great way. The plot starts in a quite unique way but turns more and more typical after the interval. The first half of the movie is really enjoyable in an innovative way, the second half lags a little behind when their families start chasing the lead characters. The movie starts off great and ends good too, delivering a social message about inter-religion and inter-caste marriages. The direction is well-trained.

It's an entertaining watch. Especially with all those typical love stories coming up on the side, this love story is something you could actually sit and invest some time in. It's fun.

JANNAT 2

Genre: Crime Drama Thriller
Direction: Kunal Deshmukh
Lead: Emraan Hashmi

Absolutely nothing new to offer! Way too old storyline! The twist in the plot that comes at the interval is totally predictable right from the start. Direction is good, acting is ordinary. Even the writing has nothing new to offer, except for some good punchlines. Pace is good and the climax is okay, which makes the movie worth watching.

Just an entertainment flick; no use expecting much from it. Something to enjoy with a light mind.
