MISSION IMPOSSIBLE IV: GHOST PROTOCOL

Genre: Action Thriller
Direction: Brad Bird
Lead: Tom Cruise

Absolutely fantastic movie! You just cannot rest your heartbeats anytime through it. After every few blinks of the eye, something happens. It's very fast-paced and the tricks and technologies used are very, very intelligent. It actually activates your brain and makes you wonder how did they think of it.

The story, on the other hand, was only alright. The plot wasn't that interesting as one would expect while watching such a speedy blockbuster, but the direction made it worth watching. This is the closest MI series has got to the level it had set with its 1st movie. You'll enjoy this one and be prepared for some stunning action!

I AM NUMBER FOUR

Genre: Action Sci-Fi Thriller
Direction: D. J. Caruso
Lead: Alex Pettyfer

The fact is, I only watched this movie to keep up with my Teresa Palmer collection. She has an entire new look in this one and that is what I went for. And I was satisfied with it. But the movie plot per say, was ridiculous. Except Palmer, there is nothing much to watch. The trailer builds up this movie so much that after watching this, you feel like you just wasted the whole time. The special effects were great and so was the acting. The plot was gripping but this is not all that you expect from a sci-fi movie. Science-fictions are made to blow people's minds. This movie felt more like watching a fantasy flick, like Sorcerer's Apprentice, only a bit less interesting version though.

It was only average and I wouldn't recommend you to specially take your time out and watch it. Only hardcore action fans that watch movies only for some special effects and people chasing people, would enjoy this movie. It's only okay.

ADVENTURES OF TINTIN, THE

Genre: Animation Adventure Mystery
Direction: Steven Spielberg

Oh, it's a Spielberg, all right!

I never knew before watching this one, that a children's movie could be so intelligent that it will screw even the older brains to solve the puzzle. If it weren't for the mind-blowing direction of the plot, the movie might have been a kids' flick, but this one is for all ages. It has awesome graphics and the way the point of view revolves around the stuff is simply marvelous. Also, the way the Captain describes the flashbacks of the past deserves special commends.

It's a great watch and a must-watch for animation fans.

ROCKSTAR (BOLLYWOOD)

Genre: Comedy Drama Music Romance
Direction: Imtiaz Ali
Lead: Ranbir Kapoor

Ranbir is truly natural. A very commendable acting by him, though not that good by Nargis Fakhri. The movie is brilliantly directed by Imtiaz and also filled with natural dialogues.

The plot is quite unique but the storyline not that much. The main plot is that an uninhibited youth deeply desires to be a star in music, but lacks inspiration. And this movie is the road of that dumb and decent fellow towards becoming the Rockstar that the title promises, and this journey is not an easy one, but filled with a lot of self-destruction. The road begins with him falling in love with a girl, which consumes the first half of the movie, which goes on like a typical Bollywood chick flick, with a better writing though. This part is as usual entertaining.

The second half, again as most of the Bollywood movies go, turns the happy-go-lucky lead into the real world filled with dramatic sequences. This is where the story gets a bit dull. The direction stays good but the portrayal of the lead's mindset gets a bit groggy. The pace reduces drastically and it gets a little boring.

Given the storyline, I expected much better songs though. The songs have been  too much hyped. The lyrics are good but neither the music not voice stood up to my expectations. I had an entire Rock On theme in mind, but not everyone can be Farhan Akhtar when it comes to singing or writing.

The only thing that I couldn't get over was that it felt like watching Jab We Met all over again. At many times, you will feel exact resemblance in the scenes and the story. The actress does some crazy adventurous things with the actor, they fall in love, but the actress already has her wedding planned, the actor becomes a great friend and meets the actress' family and lends a hand in the wedding preparations, the actress looks from some window how the actor has got involved with the family, she starts to have second thoughts, she falls in love with him and so on... It's like the same movie, with an addition of the music.

The humor is good though. The punches are comical. This is quite the contrary to most of the Bollywood movies, which have terrible sense of humor and good drama. This has better comedy but lacks the pinnacle of dramatic feel that was very much needed in the story. The ending was beautiful; a lovely touch that's hardly seen in Bollywood. To sum up, it was a good watch.

BODYGUARD

Genre: Action Comedy Romance
Direction: Siddique
Leads: Salman Khan, Kareena Kapoor

Bad direction, bad writing, bad acting, no plot.

This is an outrage because its robbing the worst movies of all time, of their titles! Maybe I wouldn't have been so disgusted by it if it weren't so hyped. But seriously, the Bollywood blockbusters are back on track of being the biggest bullshit of the year. This movie crashed down with no quality of humor, no chemistry for a love story, non-sense action sequences and repetitive parts in the storyline, if you want to call it a storyline.

The people who bought the tickets deserve a refund. But unfortunately, the people here are dumb enough to watch such C-grade movies. And that is what is keeping Bollywood from producing good content. If you see a DVD of this movie at a friend's place, I strongly advice you to crush it down to pieces.

This was expected from Salman as well as Kareena, given the recent movies they partook. But Siddique has gone from a classic like Hera Pheri all the way to this crap. He should just quit now.

SINGHAM

Genre: Action Drama Thriller
Direction: Rohit Shetty
Lead: Ajay Devgan

First 50 minutes: Utter bullshit!
Second half of movie: Simply awesome!
Ending: Utter bullshit!

You just cannot expect good direction from Rohit Shetty. He has proved this with his last few movies like Golmaal 3 and All the Best. Give him a good story and he knows how to ruin it. This movie is a remake of a South Indian movie, which gave him the good story and then he did his job.

The movie plays jump-robe between my reviews. This movie had been extremely over-rated, so I had that mindset already built up. But then I felt like wasting my time over such crap as the first 50 minutes of the movie where they are just building up the character, are supposed to be a mixture of comedy and romance, but it doesn't have to do with either. The comedy is simply foolish and not at all funny. The romance is stupid. The other Bollywood action movies would seem practical; such is the action sequence in this one at the start -the word "exaggeration" doesn't quite describe these action scenes. The entire portion is full of non-sense and its just a waste of time.

The story actually begins after the first 50 minutes and then the graph start to rise. The writing is only okay but even the dialogues have been extremely hyped. But the storyline takes a great leap in this section. After Ajay's transfer to the city, the movie just turns awesome. It will keep you at the edge of your seat, though the action is impractical throughout the movie. But the plot is just amazing and the Indian system has been depicted very cleverly. The direction was bad but the storyline was just mind-blowing! The plot keeps thickening to such extent that you start ignoring the negative things in the movie. This excitement goes back down towards the end though. It is a great concept and a revolutionary one, something that every Indian duty-man should see. The morals and values have been imbibed in a great way. And then comes the climax.

The story doesn't end where it should have been. The villain should have been killed in the room where everyone is surrounding him. But another stupid extension is added to give some extra so-called comedy effect. That's when the movie turns bullshit again, when he is surrounded by all the officers and he still finds a gun simply lying on the table in front of him and he just escapes. They chase him and he keeps running, throughout the night! He is running in the morning when the jeeps keep chasing him. That is really for the dumb people to awe upon. After a great ride in the middle, the ending again disappointed me.

And so, when I could have easily given 4 stars for the plot, neglecting even the bad direction, I just cannot because I owe the reduction in ratings to the first 50 minutes and the end of the movie. And it makes the movie so ridiculous that I actually would have given it 3.25 stars, if it were possible. This is what happens when a brilliant plot is mixed up with a bad director and over-actors.

HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS: PART 2

Genre: Action Adventure Drama Fantasy Mystery Thriller
Direction: David Yates
Leads: Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint

Inarguably the best Harry Potter movie ever! The legendary end of the era! And not just the best movie of the series but without a doubt, one of the best movies of the year!

Unbelievable direction, acting as well as cinematography. This movie is definitely not a children movie. It's a huge milestone in the industry and an example that even fantasy movies, if directed well, can prove to be the best ones. Never since Lord of the Rings had I thought will a fantasy flick ever touch my heart. This movie has truly proven that the series, despite the popularity among kids, can be even more mature than most of the movies for grown-ups. This movie has taken the Harry Potter series to a level no one had imagined when it had started.

The movie has been designed brilliantly and Daniel especially has done a great job. The movie sticks to you and does not let you go for a long time. The dramatic sequences are truly touching and the twists are just mind-blowing! The revelation of the whole story plot after the interval through Snape's memory is when you feel the entire series throughout together. If you are already a fan of the series, this one will literally make you weep!

Beautiful piece with a beautiful ending. There are simply no words to describe the level that has been hit! I would like to personally thank David Yates for directing this. Ever since he took up the project, he started bringing the series to upper levels and with this one, he has succeeded in winning everyone's hearts!

Best Acting: Deathly Hallows -Part 1
Best Special Effects: Half-Blood Prince
Best Plot: Prisoner of Azkaban

ZINDAGI NA MILEGI DOBARA

Genre: Adventure Comedy Drama
Direction: Zoya Akhtar
Leads: Hrithik Roshan, Farhan Akhtar, Abhay Deol

Not at one point in the movie I felt it was a typical Bollywood one. You would never have expected such great direction in an Indian movie. This is one of the rare ones. The acting of every single character in the movie is simply outstanding. Zoya Akhtar, you just brought a Bollywood movie to the Hollywood level!

Very entertaining movie, and the credit goes to the director, script writers and the actors. Hrithik is already too good for the industry. According to me, he is doing far better job than Amitabh in his days did. Hrithik is simply perfect in all respects! The main credit for this movie goes Farhan. He is already a heart-throbbing actor and poet and he has done a great job in entering people's minds with his natural comedy, tactfulness dramatic sequences and the poetry that touch the viewers' hearts. I wouldn't give much credit to Abhay but he has surely done his part to keep the movie up too.

This type of adventure is rarely focused on in Bollywood movies. But this movie teaches us how important it is in our lives that have been circulating around themselves like a dog chasing its tail. This movie has a lot to give, many morals, many values. And Farhan's poems make their ways to our souls in expressing them. This movie will be an entertaining and joy ride, a break from the hectic lives to take some time out to chill.

The only down side I felt was that the pace of the movie seems a bit low. This movie would have done its job even in a shorter run-time. But well, for a movie this natural, you can't complain. Watch it with your closest friends and enjoy the adventure. This movie is the best combination of perfect direction and acting.

HORRIBLE BOSSES

Genre: Comedy Crime
Direction: Seth Gordon
Leads: Jason Bateman, Charlie Day, Jason Sudeikis, Jennifer Aniston, Collin Farrell, Kevin Spacey, Jamie Foxx

Totally hilarious!

The movie may have been popularized as a dark comedy but I didn't feel anything dark about it. The deal is to kill the boss, that's it. The cast has done a great job, especially Kevin Spacey (obviously). It's natural comedy, what I like to call -Slapstick humor. You just have to listen and you will definitely keep laughing throughout the movie. It had been quite some time since a quality comedy movie was released. And this one definitely will get through the most horrific day. Don't watch it before going to job though. (LOL).

Jason Bateman, the star of the already well-known comedy series -Arrested Development, already owns the field of comedy. I was a bit shocked to see Aniston in such a wild role though. And Spacey needs no words. If you're feeling down, howmuchever, this movie will cheer you up!

DELHI BELLY

Genre: Comedy Drama
Direction: Abhinav Deo
Leads: Imran Khan, Vir Das, Kunaal Roy Kapur

Finally, the Indian cinema broke the rules that were holding its sense of humor down! Bollywood is finally free to do what it should -to make people laugh with no limits! It has finally let go of the traditions and has taken one step closer to the hearts of the teenagers.

This movie has one of the best direction Bollywood has ever had! You rarely get to see a Bollywood comedy this practical. Almost all Indian comedy movies are mostly about over-acting, with a climax filled with all the characters they'd shown in the movie coming together in a chaotic scenario and people are just running here and there with a childish music in the background. Well, if you have grown sick of that stupid theme that Bollywood had been following since a decade now, this movie is a breakthrough!

Throughout the movie, the story chugs along with hilarious punches. At times, you just get shocked and wonder if they really said that or were it just your ears. The movie has broken all the bounds and succeeded in making people laugh their ass off. Being a comedy movie, you can't expect much of natural acting, but it was good enough to make it not look like over-acting. P.S. Shenaz looks really hot!

It's a story about about how the three room-mates accidentally get involved in a bunch of mess and how they try to find out a way to get out of it. A simple storyline directed in the best way possible. The movie was released in both English and Hindi languages. Though Hindi version seems to be popularized more among the youth because they could connect it more to their lives, but if I were to suggest someone, I would recommend the original English version and not the dubbed one. The original sounds more natural than cheesy. The Hindi version makes people feel that the abusive language is all that is to the movie. But the original version will actually take you to the ride that it promises.

This movie has left its mark in the Indian industry and proved that they can adopt to the changing generation. It's fun, it's exciting, it's entertaining. Go for it!

X-MEN: FIRST CLASS

Genre: Action Adventure Drama Sci-Fi Thriller
Direction: Matthew Vaughn
Leads: James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence

This movie has taken the entire X-Men series to a high point! The first three movies (the original trilogy) were good but the direction was only okay and they had a bit immature take on the concept of mutants. Personally, I always thought X-Men is just another superhero movie for children. But Wolverine raised the bar a little. But this movie has blown beyond my expectations. Of course, my expectations had already grown when they declared that Matthew Vaughn would be directing this but I never imagined such brilliance in a superhero movie. Till now, the only superhero movie that made me feel it's for grown-ups, was The Dark Knight, and to some extent, Iron Man. And now, this has leveled its way up to the adults too. It falls right in between these two. Truly, first class movie!

James McAvoy is already one the top-10 actors in my list. And he succeeded in keeping his mark. Apart from the great direction, the movie has stunning has stunning storyline, script-writing, cinematography and great pace. The depiction of the entire concept of evolution finally made its way to me. The movie is a perfect mixture of action, drama and comedy. Trust me, you have never seen "X-Men" this way before. And I do recommend you watch the trilogy before you go for this, because the movie mainly works on the Deja Vu feeling when we see the training home the first time, the Cerebro, the moments when you realize how the things you saw in the trilogy actually happened and how it all connects. This movie, I tell you, will just make you an X-Men fan without fail.
