Genre: Animation Fantasy Musical Romance
Direction: Gary Trousdale, Kirk Wise
The movie is great but the songs used to make it musical are a bit extra childish. Unlike some other animation movies which indeed make their way to adults too on account of their quality of drama and sense of humor, this fails to do so just because of the lyrics of the songs, which fill most of the movie. If anyone heard you watching this, you would indeed be embarrassed.
But except the music, the movie has a great story, worth counting as a classic. Behind all the childish display, the movie has a very simple message conveying that love does not depend solely on the external characteristics It is deeper than the physical features and judging a person who seem to be different is not the best way of finding love. The movie is a beautiful depiction of love. Overall, what you remember are the feelings and not the childishness in the movies, the theory using which Bollywood has been piling on since decades. So, when you finish the movie, you just embrace it by its direction and the characters mapped in your mind. And with a moral so beautiful, this movie definitely makes its way to the hall of fame for kids' movies.
Also, to get the deeper feeling of what you just experienced, do stay for the credits song; it's performed by Celine Dion and Peabo Bryson. Now that is beautiful one.
