The people who say that the movie is boring have no sense of appreciation for quality direction and screenplay. The movie is very craftily designed the dramatic transition of the lead character and Robert De Niro is simply at his best. I don't suppose any other actor could have performed the role any better. The direction and writing is absolutely outstanding and intelligently executed.
On the other hand, since the movie is much like The Godfather regarding the dramatic theme, though not portraying the mafia world, I could not help but compare them. The pace was similarly low but Godfather has its thrills after every few scenes, whereas Taxi Driver missed to induce the audience that deeply. The movie is great only for people who have patience and who appreciate good cinema drama. The movie describes the gradual and eventual take-over of insanity that perpetuates in everyone's heart. It's definitely a good watch.
